Course duration for the CMA

A CMA course lasts three years in total. Due to the fact that graduate students are exempt from the Foundation Level, they will take at least 2.5 years to complete the program. For Bcom students to become CMAs, it will take at least 2.5 years.

Each level’s CMA duration can be found in the table below.

Eligibility for CMA courses

CMA courses have different eligibility requirements depending on their level. The CMA course qualification for each level can be found here. 

Eligibility criteria for the CMA Foundation:

The eligibility criteria for the CMA Foundation course are:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Applicants must hold a 10+2 diploma from a recognized institution.

OR

Obtaining a Qualified National Diploma from AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education.

Or

A diploma in rural service examination is offered by the National Council for Higher Education.

Applicants for the CMA course are not restricted by age, according to the ICMAI. A minimum age of 18 is required, however.


Criteria for Intermediate Eligibility in the CMA

  • Achieved 10+2 certification.
  • Achieved CMA Foundation certification.
  • Passed the first part of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India’s CAT exam.

OR

The minimum requirement for students is a Bachelor’s degree, except in the fine arts.

Or

Have passed CA Foundation or Intermediate of ICSI.


Eligibility Criteria for the CMA

The eligibility to register for the CMA Final exams are:

  • Passed the first and second parts of the CMA Intermediate Exam.
  • I have completed the training for the CMA Final exam.
